History
Global Connections traces its roots back to 1971 when it began as Network Direct, a buying service. A travel component was added to the membership in 1996 and condominium reservations soon outpaced all other sales. Currently, more than 150,000 people enjoy membership in the Global Discovery Vacations travel club, saving on vacation accommodations, leisure benefits, and name-brand merchandise purchased through the buying service.
As the membership grew so did demand for resort locations. In 2004, GCI purchased its first resort, Sea Shells Beach Club, and turned a failing hotel into a thriving condominium resort location. Since that time, Global Connections has developed or renovated seven properties, with five remaining in its management and in use with the travel club.
Global Connections Inc sells the travel club through sales distributorships located in cities across the United States. Global Connections has five offices with its headquarters remaining in Overland Park, Kansas.
